About Us
I’m Jess - I’m a mum of two fun, art loving girls. I love to create and play and I believe creativity is the key to joy in life.
I started young expressions to help encourage and bring the joy of experimentation and fun to kids and adults at home in a no fuss, easy kind of way. I have art supplies that are loved by my family and are winners for an easy set up and clean up, because let’s face it... art can be messy!
My home has a dedicated art table and my kids always have access a huge range of art supplies. Watching inspiration strike my girls is magical and I’m always amazed where my supplies take them. It doesn’t have to be chaos and growing up I have fond memories of crafting with my mum and having so much fun with the simplest of supplies. A rainbow of items makes for all kinds of inspiration.
Young Expressions birthday parties is another way for me to bring the joy of open ended play and arty fun to your family. I offer a variety of different themed parties to cater for all sorts of ages. I bring the supplies and take care of the mess.

Kids love to play, make a mess and explore! That's why I have come up with the following party options for young kids through to tweens to have a fun party, be it their birthday, a mums group catch up or a fun way to just connect with your kids. Parties are a mobile service and I bring along everything I need to run the party to your home or venue! Best of all I do ALL the clean up!
Messy play party - 1-5 year old

PAINT & PLAY
Station 1 - Paint - Includes supplies to paint a large cardboard cake or try our fun spin art painting.
Station 2 - Sensory Tray - select 2 option - rainbow rice, ooblek, water or dry ingredients
Station 3 - Play dough - let kids play, build and bake up treats with this themed play dough station.

BADGE MAKER $150
Kids will go crazy for this party and will have so much fun making and creating their own badges before pressing them. I'll come along with precept discs and everything needed to create fun and unique badges for the school bag, hat or as gift. Think stickers, drawing, colouring and cutting. Sure to keep everyone entertained and happy!

COLLAGE NECKLACE $150
This crafty and fun collage necklace party is sure to entertain and spark imagination as everyone will be able to use cardboard, stickers, beads and paint pens to make and decorate approx.3 necklaces or bracelets to take home. All supplies included, set up and pack up.

POTION PARTY $150
For this fun experiment party, we will use super special ingredients to make potions that bubble and flow, sparkle and explode. Potions made are to be adored and for fun and won’t be taken home (Trust me you don’t want the mess!) This is best for an outdoor setting as the ingredients can spill over onto the ground. (I do come prepared for this but can’t always catch the fall).

COLLAGE JOURNAL $150
Kids love to draw and write and why not get them to create their very own journal to be creative in. Using different coloured and textured papers each child will be able to build their own journal to take home and then decorate the front cover in their own unique way.

CLAY PARTY $170
Mixing colours, building shapes and having fun is what this party is all about! Each child will be able to make their own beads and pendants to then create a necklace to take home as well as a key ring. This party does require a venue with a working oven to bake creations.

SLIME $180
Goopy, stretchy slime always is a winner with kids (maybe not the parents) We will start by decorating a container for our slime and leaving space to give our special mix a name before we move on to making and colouring slime. We will then try some tricks like blowing bench top bubbles. Each child will be able to take their slime home in their container.

DREAM CATCHER $180
This special party lets kids wrap, tape, paint and thread beads to make their very own dream catcher using feathers, tape, beads and wool to make pom poms. Includes all material, set up, pack up 1 hour guided session. Each child will be able to take their dream catcher home.

CAP DECORTATING $200
Let's customise a cap to wear with your own personal style. We will use tie dye effects and permanent markers to draw and write our own designs and then we can also use iron on patches to add extra details!

SCIENCE $200
All things science based are explored in this 1 hour session of mixing, making and discovering. We can choose from making lava lamps, making things explode (no real explosives involved) and having fun while also a wee bit of learning going on.

PHOTO FRAME ART $225
Oh so sweet! Watch as the cuteness and creativity unfolds with this super fun activity. Each child will be able to use special puffy paint to make swirls like a cupcake and then add all the extra fun embellishments!

ADOPT A PET $225
This party is so much fun and all the cuteness! We will begin by adopting our chosen animal and giving them a name. We will then create a name tag and collar for our new beloved pet before moving on to decorating a home for our special little one. This is art and craft all in one as well as a new furry friend that everyone gets to take home! This could be a cat, dog or other animal at your party person's request.

FAIRY HOUSE $225
This party is magical fun! Each child will be able to paint and decorate their very own fairy house as well as build a garden with mushroom homes and all things fairy related! We will do a little bit of painting, colouring and gluing. Each fairy home comes with a fairy to go home as well. What a magical way to celebrate!

SCRAPE PAINTING $245
Painting done differently! Have you tried to do a scrape painting before? Kids will love being able to make patterns and mix colours as they drop paint onto their paper or canvas and then watch what happens as they scrape it away. . Each child will be able to test out the process and then finish a canvas as well as some gift cards. Once some pieces have dried children will have the option to use a fine line to draw a picture or design over their painting.

CANVAS PAINTING $245
Let's celebrate by all painting your very own canvas to take home! We can paint to a theme that your special one loves such as, space, flowers, animals, unicorns, etc. We will use acrylic paints and learn how to use them and experiment with painting techniques and learn different hints and tips along the way. Once done we can draw any extra detail on our canvas using acrylic paint pens!

GRAFFITI $245
Let the tweens have some graffiti fun and tag and paint a large collaborative canvas for the birthday person to keep as well as use a hydro dip method to create a piece of art to take home! This one needs to be held in a well ventilated area and access to water.
